Recently, the Ohio Society of Association Executives endorsed the Board of Directors Team Coaching Experience from McWherter Coaching Group. The program is open to interested OSAE members’ boards of directors.
The team coaching experience will enable board chairs to provide a half-day training to facilitate their board’s effectiveness. Board members will welcome the opportunity to be challenged to know one another better, to appreciate the group’s strengths and to learn how to communicate more effectively. Participants will be coached around priorities set by the chair and will enjoy a mutually respectful and collaborative experience. Board chairs will appreciate the opportunity to bring in an outside leadership development expert to help increase their volunteer board’s effectiveness and productivity.
The Board of Directors Team Coaching Experience consists of five (5) total coaching hours:
- One hour of executive coaching by phone with board chair prior to the Team Coaching Experience
- Three hours of team coaching live with entire board of directors at a site of the board chair’s choosing
- One hour of executive coaching by phone with the board chair following the Team Coaching Experience

For a successful event, we suggest planning to enjoy a meal (breakfast or lunch) either before or after the three hours of team coaching. If desired, each organization may choose to provide an offsite location and a meal at their own expense. The ideal scenario would allow for scheduling the five total hours of coaching within a month’s time in order to provide the best possible engagement and creation of follow-up action steps. Once this done, participating board members should make a commitment and get dates on their 2020 calendar as soon as possible.
